October 1, 2012
Montana PBS is now on air from our Ch 17 - it is branded by the broadcaster
as 46.1 etc and that is likely what it will appear as on your set or
set-top box.
July 29, 2012
Put a duplicate signal of NBC back on 24. Try rescanning for that if
you set doesn't find it right away. When the Olympics have concluded,
CBS will be back on our 12; you'll see it at 8.
July 28, 2012
The board will convene Monday afternoon at 5 at Swan River School to
develop our position on remedying the current broadcast issues.
July 27, 2012
A moisture issue with the main UHF cable has put channels 7, 9, 11,
21 & 42 off air. We are working to correct this as soon as possible
and some channels may improve spontaneously. To keep the Olympics on
air, NBC has been moved to our channel 12 which carried CBS. CBS will
be off air until the issue is resolved. Rescan for this, if needed,
some sets will see the change without a scan. We regret the inconvenience.
July 2, 2012
Our signal from Blacktail that we receive to broadcast KAJ 18 is down.
When that signal is restored,
our translator will automatically send it out.
June 29, 2012
KUFM 101.3 is off air - this is due to 89.5 in Polson being off air.
Nothing to be done until 89.5 is back on air.
89.5 back on air and so is 101.3.
June has been very wet and
there is some water getting into a transmission line and interferring
with all
the UHF signals KCFW, KSPS, AJE and ABC. We hope to correct this in
July.
May 16, 2012
The FM translator for KUFM 101.3 is back on air after a trip to the
mfg. for repair.
April 29, 2012
An amplifier will be installed on our CH5 [KSKC 27.1 & 2] This is
expected to eliminate the pixellation and sound dropouts that have been
occuring.
Keep in mind that the source signal is west of Polson and is not hugely
strong. But, the programming is really great including daily airings
of Democracy Now with Amy Goodman from 5-6 PM on 27.2
April 27, 2012
The translator for KUFM 101.3 developed a problem and was returned to
the manufacturer for service. Many listeners can also receive the signal
90.1.
March 4, 2012
Moved the receive signal for CBS from Missoula's KPAX to its Kalispell
affiliate KAJ-18. You will need to rescan for this. Also, we are aware
of some issues with ABC on 42. They are being looked into.
February 17, 2012
The district engineers successfully added the SK&C College signal.

January 29, 2012,
KUFM TV won't be available on the system until the tower deices on Blacktail
and the final equipment can be installed.
January 2, 2012
It appears that our source signal for ABC at Lone Pine has been upgraded
finally to HD. Some viewers reported not having an audio feed until
doing a rescan. We suspect their tuner needed to relearn the type of
signal there. It is now 720p HD for both ABC and FOX.
November 20, 2011
The signal we receive from NBC/KCFW on Blacktail has problems - pixillation.
We hope they get to it soon. Meantime, enjoy our other signals.
This signal had returned to normal by days end.
November 15, 2011
All antennas were moved to the new tower; all translators were moved
to the new building. Receptions should be improved for all and we still
anticipate adding KUFM TV in mid December.
November 3, 2011
The district is moving antennas to a new tower and translators to a
new building. The move is about half complete with one television signal
down, CBS and CW. We are working to resolve this soon.
August 4, 2011
Additional filtration has been dialed into the signal for KUFM 101.3
which we hope makes it clearer.
June 20, 2011
A character generator has been installed in CH 11.1. This will be used
to make notifications to the viewing public. KUFM radio receiving antenna
has been pointed to 90.1 at Big Mtn. Some in the district will be able
to receive 90.1 as an alternative to our 101.3.
June 10, 2011
We are now receiving KUFM from 90.1 on FAA peak hear Big Mtn. In the
future we'll move the antenna to point there directly and that may improve
your reception.
June 9, 2011
Having difficulties getting our FM signal resolved with the KUFM station
changes in the valley. We're working towards a resolution.
May 27, 2011
KCFW has added ME TV to their lineup in 480i SD - mostly old televison
series from the 50's and 60's. On 9.2. Click their name in the header
to see the schedule, may be in Eastern time frame. Also added THIS TV
at 9.3.
April 4, 2011
The KSPS signal that we receive by satellite from a Shaw Direct satellite
has been moved and required us to reset the receiver. You may have noticed
some outages on Saturday afternoon and Monday afternoon. This has been
settled. The engineers at KSPS were extremely helpful.
March 12, 2011
Have connected a better receive antenna to the Lone Pine signal of ABC.
It should come in better for all our viewers.
February 24, 2011
We have been able to restore the ABC signal on 42.1 & Fox on 42.2
- You'll need to rescan. It is SD for now, beyond our control.
February 22, 2011
ABC has lost their transmitter in Missoula to storm damage. This leaves
all local broadcasts out for now. Watch this space.
February 16, 2011
KUFM Missoula just announced a signal improvement at their KUKL transmitter
on Lone Pine [we translate this] that should eliminate the chirping.
January 25, 2011
That chirping again! Sure sign of wet snow on the receive dish over
at KUKL 89.9 on Lone Pine.
December 12, 2010
If you have heard strange chirping sounds on KUFM 101.3, we are told
that is caused by a snow effect at our signal source KUKL - 89.9, Kalispell
on Lone Pine. When snow accumulates on their receive dish and then starts
to slide down off the dish, sudden movements cause the signal to fail
for a very short time, thus causing the odd sounds. Al Jazeera English
was added at 21.2 for a world news outlet. We had looked for the BBC
and found we didn't have access to the satellite signal and CNN doesn't
license to translator districts. AJE is free for now, let us know what
you think.
Also today, we added EBRU
to the televison lineup at 21.1. It looks to be a nice addition. Feel
free to email us with your opinion to info@swanhilltv.net
December 4, 2010
Our foreign news and affairs channel, Mhz Worldview [our CH 21.1] has
discontinued their satellite signal. We will need to prepare to receive
it over the internet and this may take some time.
